Rethinking who we build for

…but, who are we building for? is Building Diversity’s second publication, developed with the Danish Architectural Press to challenge who and what the built environment is designed around.

Moving beyond architecture as a practice centred on its creators, the book brings together perspectives on how buildings, cities and infrastructures shape human and more-than-human lives. Through essays, interviews and visual contributions from across the world, it explores inclusion, equity, accessibility, ecology and co-creation as interconnected questions.

Shaping an inclusive editorial approach

As part of the editorial team, I contributed to the book’s structure, the curation and development of contributions, and the inclusive design principles that informed the creative brief.

Inclusion was considered throughout the editorial process, from whose voices were represented to how content was structured, accessed and experienced.

Turning principles into a tangible publication

The result is a 498-page publication bringing together diverse voices and perspectives around the future of the built environment.

Published by the Danish Architectural Press in September 2025, the book translates questions of inclusion, ecology and representation into a shared editorial object designed to open conversations rather than prescribe a single solution.
